If you don't know, now you know: you can create modern-looking beach waves with a flat iron. If your hair is on the short side, it's probably easier to get stylish curls with a straightener. We love this tutorial from beauty influencer Milabu, who explains how to create curls with a straightener on short hair. It's all in the technique. Our Style Setter Hair Straightener has ⅞-inch plates which is a good option for shorter hair. Same goes for curling irons, if your hair is short. A smaller barrel like our 19mm Classic Curling Wand can help give you more definition!
Short 'n dirty? This look is useful for when you're a few days out from your last wash. Apply some dry shampoo (we like our Fresh N' Fab Dry Shampoo Aerosol for added texture) and weave a front row braid to further mask any oiliness. The YouTube channel Amanda Cypert Beauty has a how-to tutorial for making the braid on a pixie cut.
Are you rocking the pixie cut that's longer on the top and shorter on the sides? This one's for you. According to pixie vlogger Becs MK, it's all about the blow-dry in this demo. The drying method can make or break this look. Our ergonomically designed Bold Hair Dryer features a DC motor for 30% less drying time, so easier on your arms all around. Use a heat protectant like the Watch Me Werk Thermal Heat Protectant before any heat styling.
Even though the messy top knot is an option for short-haired gals, you can still swing other types of updos with a little more creativity. The rolled chignon or rolled low bun is ultra-simple to fix. Hair vloggers Laura Bradshaw and Susu Kloony both have great tutorials for versions of this style here and here. All you need are some bobby pins and hairspray to set the look, like the NuMe Hair-Fie Ready Finishing and Shine Spray.
A whole lot of pixie, and minimal length? We envy your summertime coolness. Super short pixies are in, and they are definitely low maintenance. Above all, we'd make sure hair is clean before you add a lot of the products that come with styling this 'do. Our White Truffle Shampoo is softening, and paraffin-free. Stylist and short-haired beauty blogger Kingsley Brown styles her cropped pixie in this video with nothing but a brush, some coconut oil, mousse and hairspray, similar to our Freeze Please Finishing Hairspray.
