Double Dutch Braids to Ponies
A cute take on double-dutch pigtail braids, this hair was meant to wave the flag. You only braid the hair against the scalp and keep the rest loose in ponytails. We'd recommend starting with a mane that's maybe a few days past its last wash. Hide any oiliness with a dry shampoo like our Fresh N' Fab. Set the braids with some hairspray—we love our Freeze Please Finishing Spray for a look that stays put and shines all day. New to dutch braids, but willing to practice? Check out this tutorial from the YouTuber, Cute Girls Hairstyles.
Back Braided Top Knot
Let freedom ring via your top knot. We love the textured, elegant look of a bun that's got a braid leading up to it in the back. It doesn't necessarily have to be a French braid, but if you do want to go try it out, blogger Abby Smith from Twist Me Pretty demonstrates how to do it here. To learn how to do a French or Dutch Braid with even more detail, Pop Sugar also has a helpful tutorial as well. Either way, you're going to have to be willing to spend some time upside down to create this cute 4th of July hairstyle. Again, we'd also recommend a dry shampoo such as our This Dry Shampoo is Everything to add some texture and make it possible to work with slightly dirty hair.
Voluminous Lob
If you are looking for a classic and summer-fresh Fourth of July hair idea, we hear you. A lot of women are sporting 'lob haircuts right now, and we love the ones showcasing a ton of volume and bounce. If you want to honor your country's birthday with a good blowout, we support that 100 percent. We'd recommend something to combat the frizz you might face from July humidity, like our Sleeky in a Bottle Serum, after you've applied a primer, like the NuMe Rise and Prime, which will protect hair from heat. We'd also suggest using a root lifter like Root Werk before drying with a round bristle brush and a good quality dryer like our Bold Hair Dryer. Be sure to dry section by section if you want that salon-level result.
Half-Up, Half-Down with a Scarf
If you are a half-up, half-down regular, adding a hair scarf is a cutet way to accessorize the hair that is up. We think the scarf contrasts nicely with waves and curls, so definitely create a base with the NuMe Classic Curling Wand prepped with some Watch Me Werk Thermal Heat Protectant. If you're looking for cute scarves, Etsy has a ton of fun ones, and so does Urban Outfitters. We have no doubt you can find an American flag print scarf if you set your mind to it.
Hair Tinsel
Feeling super celebratory and adventurous? Looking to bust out some sparklers, for your neighborhood parade, and your hair? Hair tinsels are a thing, and besides maybe New Year's Eve, when is there a better time to try some than the 4th of July? The tinsel tends to be the most noticeable in straight hair. If your hair is naturally wavy or curly, the NuMe Megastar Straightener is the perfect tool to use in order to get those locks sparkle-ready.
We hope this inspires you to get full on patriotic with your hair this 4th of July.
