Accessorized by ribbons or bows, wrapped pigtails are a way to beat the heat while your little one plays all day. You can either choose between two ponytail pigtails or braided pigtails—the key is wrapping a small section of hair from underneath to cover the elastic. Secure with a bobby pin, and seal the deal with some setting spray like our Sleeky in a Bottle Serum. If your girl likes her pigtails smooth, we'd recommend a bit of our Gloss Boss Serum on wet or dry strands before styling.
We love a bubble braid, but a bubble braid times two on a cute kid? Adorable. A straight, middle part is clutch for this 'do while you tie those strands with colorful hair elastics. The YouTube channel Hair4LittleGirls has a super easy tutorial to follow. If you decide to hold off on braiding, there is always the option to section off parts of two regular ponytails (either low and in the back, or pigtail style), gently tugging each section out to form those playtime bubbles.
This one is a simple way to add some flair to your baby's mane, and it's definitely got a princess warrior feel. Secure the bottom with an elastic, and if necessary, use mini pins to hold the twisted section into the braided one. Slightly dirty hair will help hold this style a little better, so add some powdered dry shampoo like our Dry Shampoo is Everything to mask any greasiness. Put the hair into a high pony and divide into two. Braid one section, twist the other, and wrap it around the braided section
Add fun pops of color by using different color hair bands. Depending on your patience (or maybe your daughter's patience) and skill level, there are a lot of variations. The idea is getting creative with small sections of hair, and securing a style that you know will stay in place if she's got an active day ahead of her. Clean, smooth hair and mini elastics are a must since the sections will be pretty thin. Prevent any frizzies by applying a few pumps of a smoothing agent such as our Sleeky in a Bottle Serum when her hair is still wet. Set the look with a hairspray like our Freeze Please Finishing Spray so she's locked and loaded.
You could also go with half-up, half-down messy buns if that's the kind of day you're having. This look is a playful way to get the hair out of her face but still keep it flowing behind her if she wants to keep her girly vibe. If you are going to do tighter buns, we'd recommend some hairspray and mini pins for hold. If the buns are looser, all you need is some smaller elastics and a #messyhairdontcare attitude.
The only thing sweeter than milkmaid braids is milkmaid braids sported by a five-year-old. This look is a deceivingly uncomplicated to style. There is a play-by-play here if you need more detail. Essentially, you create two low braids on either side of her head, somewhat closer to her ears and face. Then lift the braids from the sides over the top of her head, securing each one with a bobby pin. Now all you'll need is your phone because she has to show this cuteness off on the 'gram.
