Fashion week is every fashion aficionado's mood board for the coming seasons. While many of these pieces are quite unwearable off the runway, they are a display of artistic expression for the fashion designer, so there’s much to be appreciated. And it’s not just the clothes that people flock from all over the world to see; it’s also the outrageous makeup and hairstyles from the street to the catwalk. Every September, we all get excited about New York Fashion Week and this year’s styles blew us away. Some of the things you would never have imagined rose from the dead, like the scrunchie! Hey, 90’s? Forget something? There was also a bold Rihanna exit following her Fenty line appearance for Spring of 2018 complete with dunes and motorcycles.
Amidst the distraction of religious icons clad in glamorous velvet, lace, latex and floral bouquets (yes, models were wearing floral bouquets instead of blouses), the fabulous hair fashion mesmerized and confirmed our desires until the end of spring 2018. Kim Kardashian busted a Game of Thrones color moment reminding us of our favorite Khaleesi because, duh, the North remembers. And every high fashion model and celebrity you were anxious to see, appeared in some form or another. The hottest designers including Badgley Mischka, Tom Ford, Anna Sui, Jeremy Scott, Philipp Plein and Christian Siriano pulled all the stops and brought their A game. There was so much to look at that our heads are still spinning! But with hair like that, spin on girl. While there were dozens of ‘dos to drool over, we’ve chosen a few that you need to try, just in time for fall season transitions. Take a gander at these 6 New York Fashion Week 2018 Hairstyles that will make you feel like a supermodel in no time!
1. Half-Up-Half-Down ‘Do With Maleficent Buns
Bye-bye, space buns. To look fierce and fashion-forward, try this twist on a summer favorite for fall. This half-up-half-down style is also giving us Maleficent vibes in the best way possible! To get this look, section out the hair at the crown, spray NuMe Root Work for volume and tease before creating two messy little buns. Don’t forget to curl your free strands with a NuMe 32mm Classic Curling Wand and spray to set. Anna Sui models strutted their vintage-inspired looks to some La Vie En Rose with this look.
2. Ponytail With Velvet Bows
The takeaway from this simple yet elegant accessory and style is to do the most! Why settle for a subtle accessory when you can make a statement! If you’re feeling a simple ponytail to focus all attention on your ensemble, this velvet bow idea will wrap it up nicely. Sometimes being “extra” is the way to go, and this oversized velvet hair bow offers the perfect touch. All the Tory Burch models sported this accessory because it’s velvet is in ladies and gents.
3. Side Part Twist and Waves
The ethereal beauty of Jenny Packham styles is only further accented by these wispy hairstyles fit for woodland creatures. This style is an easy one to work in the fall and winter months, but especially in spring with a floral accessory. Be sure to have your bobby pins and NuMe Argan Oil ready to go to tame frizz and keep the hair in place.
4. Cream Soda Hair Color
We’ve seen everything from oil slick hair to flamboyage, but this color is too sweet for words. Instead of going full-on blonde, dark and lightly clad gals can try this look with a creamy combination of face-framing highlights to add dimension to your hair.
5. Opal Hair Color
You may have been captivated by all the rose quartz and pastel lavender hair colors at NYFW 2017, but you may have missed this gem. Opal hair blows unicorn hair out of the water with these subtle yet shimmering color that plays on a trick of the light. Each style is different depending on the colorist, but it’s exquisite and bold.
6. Blunt Bob
There’s a sci-fi bob and textured bob, but this blunt bob is edgy and screams haute couture. And who better to represent this look than a high fashion model, Bella Hadid. In contrast to her sister’s fun-loving waves, Bella sets an edgier tone for this NYFW runway look.
There’s bound to be one or two of these styles you that will work for your cut and color. Step outside of your shell and try something new! You may be surprised at what you can pull off when you have the confidence to be a boss babe. Follow NuMe on IG @NuMeStyle or sign up for our newsletter at NuMehair.com.

I love how Fashion Week serves as a creative playground for designers, makeup artists, and hairstylists. It’s like a sneak peek into the future of fashion and beauty trends. The mention of the scrunchie making a comeback is intriguing – the ‘90s nostalgia is real! And Rihanna’s bold exit with her Fenty line sounds like it was a showstopper. Can’t wait to see how these runway looks inspire everyday styles.
