Color Me Gorgeous With Temporary Hair Chalk

Color Me Gorgeous With Temporary Hair Chalk

3 min read

Women and men have colored their hair since 1500 BC, and finally, in the 2000s, we’ve brought the idea of multiple color schemes to life. Rainbow, mermaid, and blorange looks pretty awesome on Pinterest, but what about on you? It’s hard to know unless you try it; the only problem is, you’ll probably have to bleach it to get that look if you’ve got darker hair. Everyone wants to know, how can I get color like that without blasting my natural color?

NuMe Hair Chalk Wins OK! Magazine’s Annual A-List Beauty Awards

This fall, NuMe released a temporary hair chalk that comes in six vibrant colors and works on both light and dark hair. It was a smash hit! The hair chalk arrived just in time for Halloween and people went bananas for it. It’s super simple to use and washes out easily without any drawbacks. We’re excited to share our victory with all of you after NuMe Hair Chalk wins the Bold DIY Hair Color category in OK! Magazine’s 2017 Annual A-List Beauty Awards.

Committing to a new cut and color is sometimes too much to handle, but the desire for a new hue can’t be ignored especially since bold hair trends have been popping up on our favorite celebs and influencers. The editor of OK! Magazine says, “Rub on chalk in fun shades transforms strands in seconds.” That’s really all it takes, a few seconds to add color and...Viola! No damage or long-term relationships.

How-to-Use Hair Chalk to Get Wow! Color

Instead of worrying about color recovery, simply pick out your favorite chalk hues and go to town. We’ll show you how to apply hair chalk to get that pop of color you crave. But first, to protect your skin and clothing, we recommend that you wear a hairstyling cape (or an old t-shirt) and some protective gloves. Let’s get started!

Step 1

Start with dry hair and brush out any tangles and knots. Then, section hair into two parts and secure with styling clips.

Step 2

Starting from the midsection, rub the chalk firmly down to the tips of your hair using two fingers to hold the section in place. For the fullest coverage, twist the section before you apply the hair chalk. You can also enhance the color by concentrating hair chalk on a specific area and rubbing it in with backward and forward motionsAlternate colors to add some dimension!

Step 3

Put on your handy dandy styling glove and set your hair with some heat so that the temporary hair color lasts longer. Here our model, Veronica, is using the 32mm barrel from the NuMe Titan 3 set which comes with three interchangeable curling barrels to add cascading curls to this fun and funky ‘do. Seal in your hard work with a finishing spray. Veronica is using her fave, NuMe Hair-Fie Ready Finishing Spray.

Removing Your Hair Chalk

Now that you know how to get the best temporary color possible using hair chalk you can easily remove it from your locks by washing with warm water and a gentle shampoo. Tea tree helps, but we recommend a botanical shampoo such as our white truffle shampoo.
