Originally from the video game Tomb Raider, and perhaps made even more famous in the film with Angelina Jolie, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, this video game female character hairstyle is low maintenance (since she's got tombs to raid, we get it). This English archeologist has her hair always up, and the ponytail is sometimes braided, low, or high. There are often a few stray pieces of hair around her face. YouTube personality Alyson Tabbitha has a tutorial for creating the Jolie version of Lara's legendary braided pony. Mask any oiliness with a dry shampoo powder like our Clean N' Mean, and ensure the ends of your ponytail remain strong and healthy with our Seal the Deal End Sealer.
A part of the infamous Gotham City Sirens, along with Poison Ivy and Cat Woman, longtime Joker companion Harley Quinn became even more popular in 2016 when Margot Robbie portrayed her in Suicide Squad. Let's just say Halloween got a lot of Harley that year. Hair extension experts, Milk+Blush, have a YouTube video demonstrating how to create Harley's colorful pigtails. We suggest trying some of the NuMe Hair Chalk if you are experimenting with a temporary Harley-inspired dye job.
Chun-Li was the first female in the Street Fighter video game series. Somehow she manages to be the perfect combination of fierce and adorable. Those bun covers (which you can purchase on Etsy) make her seem like a children's storybook character, who also likes to do extreme martial arts in the big city. If you decide to replicate this female character hairstyle, make sure you have some hairspray like our Freeze Please Finishing Spray to lock them in before adding the covers and setting the signature side-swept bangs.
The Legend of Zelda has been around since 1986, so Princess Zelda has had several hair transformations over the years. It used to be long and flowy, adorned with a tiara, but these days it's shorter, and choppier, decorated with a crown braid (as she has it in this trailer for the upcoming Breath of the Wild sequel). The most common hairstyle includes a straight look, which is why we'd propose using a flat iron like our Megastar Hair Straightener before styling like Zelda. Protect hair with our heat protective spray, Watch Me Werk, and add that warrior princess shine withsome of our Gloss Boss Serum. If you want to attempt the crown braid Zelda sports, YouTube hair enthusiast Silvousplaits does a great demo in this tutorial.
Tifa made her debut in Final Fantasy VII. Her long, dark hair almost looks like a helmet, a beautiful, lustrous one, to be exact. If you've got dark hair and a similar style cut, this video game female character hairstyle isn't hard to recreate. If your hair isn't naturally straight, we'd suggest doing a blowout with a round bristle brush, after using some root lifter like our Root Werk to achieve the Tifa volume at the crown. We'd also recommend applying a product to create her signature sleekness when the hair is still wet, like our Sleeky in a Bottle Serum. Using a straightener followed by our Hair-Fie Ready Finishing Spray will perfect the final look.
It's never too early to prepare for Halloween, or a costume party thrown by a very creative, game-loving friend in your life. These animated, fictitious video game female characters have hairstyles that are doable in real life (Zelda's ears are another story).
